On Monday there were people fighting against praying in schools ...

On Tuesday you would have been hard pressed to find a school where someone was not praying

 On Monday there were people were trying to separate each other by race, sex, color and creed...
On Tuesday they were all holding hands

 On Monday we thought that we were secure...
On Tuesday we learned better

 On Monday we were talking about heroes as being athletes...
On Tuesday we relearned what hero meant

 On Monday people went to work at the world trade centers as usual...
On Tuesday they died

 On Monday people were fighting the 10 commandments on government property
On Tuesday the same people all said 'God help us all' while thinking 'Thou shall not kill'

 On Monday people argued with their kids about picking up their room
On Tuesday the same people could not get home fast enough to hug their kids

 On Monday people picked up McDonalds for dinner
On Tuesday they stayed home

 On Monday people were upset that their dry cleaning was not ready on time
On Tuesday they were lining up to give blood for the dying

 On Monday politicians argued about budget surpluses...
On Tuesday grief stricken they sang 'God Bless America'

 On Monday we worried about the traffic and getting to work late...
On Tuesday we worried about a plane crashing into your house or place of business

 On Monday we were irritated that our rebate checks had not arrived...
On Tuesday we saw people celebrating people dying in the USA

 On Monday some children had solid families...
On Tuesday they were orphans

 On Monday the president was going to Florida to read to children...
On Tuesday he returned to Washington to protect our children

 On Monday we emailed jokes...
On Tuesday we did not

 It is sadly ironic how it takes horrific events to place things into
perspective, but it has. The lessons learned this past week, the things
we have taken for granted, the things that have been forgotten or
overlooked, hopefully will never be forgotten again.

I was so touched by this child's entry in

the Memorial Book that I had

to add it to this page!

This for one is a terrible situation! This has been a big part of my life that has been taken away! My uncle Billy was in the Pintagon he worked for the deffence. I miss him soooooo much who new that he was going to get taken away on tuesday? Nobody!!!! I just wish we could find who did this so they can pay! I would do any thing to make them suffer for the American's! I would like to give my sorrow and love to those who have lost loved ones as well!!!!!!!

This is just a story I wrote to express my feelings about yesterdays tragedy...

I sat at my desk filling, answering the phone...smiling as I always do.
 
Little did I know how quickly my life and the lives of others around me would change forever.
 
The sound was instant...there was nowhere to go and I knew I would never see you again.
 
I layed there amidst the pile of rubble...I could feel something wet coming from my head.
 
Slowly...I felt life slipping away as I lay in the dust and smoke of tragedy.
 
My spirit lifted from me and I could see what happened...many of us were floating in the sky.
 
Hovering and waiting to be lifted to the great light...but for now we watched...we watched a nation cry.
 
Tears were falling from strong men...men who never showed emotions.
 
Children cried for parents that would never return to hold them or kiss them goodnight.
 
Nation upon nation joined hands in prayer  as the building I sat in ....tumbled to the ground.
 
The papers I filed so perfectly each day were floating in space beside me...I was tempted to start grabbing them but knew there was no need.
 
Everything below was ash covered, hot and smokey and I wished somehow, someway you could look up and see me and I could tell you goodbye.
 
Please know the sky around me is warm and peaceful...I am not suffering nor am I alone...many have gone on just as I have...We are almost in bliss....
 
Awwww there it is...the light...the passage tunnel where my weary broken spirit will be made perfect and strong as I go to the place....I have prayed for all my life.
 
All my life...funny how this morning when I made the coffee and burnt the toast that I didnt think life could get any worse.
 
I guess I was wrong....
but then again maybe it just go a whole lot better.....

WHEN SUDDEN TERROR TEARS APART

When sudden terror tears apart

      the world we thought was ours,

      we find how fragile strength can be,

      how limited our powers.

  As tower and fortress fall, we watch

      with disbelieving stare

      and numbly hear the anguished cries

      that pierce the ash-filled air.

     Yet most of all we are aware

      of emptiness and void:

      of lives cut short, of structures razed,

      of confidence destroyed.

     From this abyss of doubt and fear

      we grope for words to pray,

      and hear our stammering tongues embrace

      a timeless Kyrie.

     Have mercy, Lord, give strength and peace,

      and make our courage great;

      restrain our urge to seek revenge,

      to turn our hurt to hate.

     Help us to know your steadfast love,

I awoke this morning
to a horrible sound...
Silence where there once was laughter.

Enemy Miscalculates Americans' Strength

MIAMI - They pay me to tease shades of meaning from social and cultural
issues, to provide words that help make sense of that which troubles the

American soul.  But in this moment of airless shock when hot tears sting

disbelieving eyes, the only thing I can find to say, the only words that

seem to fit, must be addressed to the unknown author of this suffering.


You monster.  You beast.  You unspeakable bas***d.
What lesson did you hope to teach us by your coward's attack on our
World Trade Center, our Pentagon, us?  What was it you hoped we would
learn?  Whatever it was, please know that you failed.
Did you want us to respect your cause?  You just damned your cause.
Did you want to make us fear?  You just steeled our resolve.
Did you want to tear us apart?  You just brought us together.
Let me tell you about my people.  We are a vast and quarrelsome family,
a family rent by racial, cultural, political and class division, but a
family nonetheless.
We're frivolous, yes.  We're wealthy, too, spoiled by the ready
availability of trinkets and material goods, and maybe because of that,
we walk through life with a certain sense of blithe entitlement.
We are fundamentally decent, though - peace-loving and compassionate.
We struggle to know the right thing and to do it.  And we are, the
overwhelming majority of us, people of faith, believers in a just and
loving God.
Some people - you, perhaps - think that any or all of this makes us
weak. You're mistaken.  We are not weak.  Indeed, we are strong in ways
that cannot be measured by arsenals.
Yes, we're in pain now. We are in mourning and we are in shock. We're
still grappling with the unreality of the awful thing you did, still
working to make ourselves understand that this isn't a special effect
from some Hollywood blockbuster, isn't some Tom Clancy novel.
Your attacks are likely to go down as the worst acts of terrorism in the

history of the United States and, indeed, the history of the world.
You've bloodied us as we have never been bloodied before.
But there's a gulf of difference between making us bloody and making us
fall.  This is the lesson Japan was taught to its bitter sorrow the last

time anyone hit us this hard, the last time anyone brought us such
abrupt and monumental pain.  When aroused, we are righteous in our
outrage, terrible in our force.  When provoked by this level of
barbarism, we will bear any suffering, pay and cost, go to any length in

the pursuit of justice.
In days to come, there will be recrimination and accusation, fingers
pointing to determine whose failure allowed this to happen and what can
be done to prevent it from happening again.  There will be heightened
security, misguided talk of revoking basic freedoms.  We'll go forward
from this moment sobered, chastened, sad.  But unimaginably determined.
As Americans we will weep, as Americans we will mourn, and as Americans
we will rise in defense of all that we cherish.
You don't know my people.  You don't know what you just started.
But you're about to learn.

 

 

Don't Cry For Me
I'm sorry that I had to leave you.
A distant voice called me away.
There was so much left for us to share,
so much we never got to say.

We watched in horror, one September morning
As our home was attacked so violent without warning.
Symbols of freedom came crashing down
drowning out the mournful sounds.
Of friends, neighbors and families, fear in their eyes
in an instant, a moment they gave up their lives.
The firefighters and police the doctors and techs
surrounded by this, these needless deaths.
Heads hung low the devastation surrounds
they race to save at the slightest sound
I sat and watched in horror and awe
at the unimaginable sight I saw.
Helpless I sat and watched this thing
wanting to help, but what to bring?
I bring my courage, I bring determination
I bring my life to offer my nation
I am proud to serve as I always have
but this is new my anger they have.
Attack our ships our men in the air
this we accept though hard to bear
But attack our families and bring to our homes
this senseless madness that hate condones.
Through the dust and the ashes the smoke and the fire
the eagle has risen from the funeral pyre
Talons clenched tight wings wide spread
eyes full of tears as he looks at our dead
From high overhead he lets out a cry
and our patriotic hearts are mobilized.
As in years gone by we are taken to task
Our nations resolve was considered last.
This lesson again to all we will teach
our fury and anger to each corner will reach.

A Letter to the Terrorists

Dear terrorists,

 I felt compelled to write you regarding the events of last week.

 You see, I wish to thank you. Yes, that’s right, I want to thank you. Up until Tuesday morning, September 11, 2001, we as Americans were moving from day to day, feeling safe and comfortable, going about our business, living life as free, peace loving Americans do.

 Then it happened. I was at home getting ready for work. My wife, already at work, called me and asked if I had heard the news. She told me to turn on the television. She said two airplanes had hit the World Trade Center in New York and one tower had collapsed. My heart went into my throat as I fumbled for the remote control. I stared in disbelief at the images I saw before me. The twin towers appeared, stretching skyward from the familiar New York skyline, with arms of black smoke reaching for the heavens. At first, I told my wife she was mistaken; to my relief, both towers were still standing. But that relief was soon crushed as I watched the first tower crumble into a cloud of smoke and dust. Oh my god! I screamed out, it’s true! All of those people!

Over the last week, images of Americans with tears flowing down their faces have filled our news. I can only assume it makes you happy to see the sadness you have inflicted.
 Indeed, the tears you relish now are tears of sadness and pain, but as you will soon realize, those tears are becoming tears of patriotism and pride.

 As I stated before, I want to thank you. It may seem strange, but there are many things to be thankful for.

 I am thankful for all of the lives you failed to snuff out in your cowardly, evil act.

 I am thankful for our brothers and sisters in New York and Washington, who with incredible heroism, and through unimaginable horror, demonstrated selflessness, strength, compassion, and bravery-embodying all that it means to be American.

 I am thankful for our day-to-day heroes so rightfully brought to the forefront: firefighters, medics, EMTs, doctors, nurses, and police officers. None of these people would ever consider themselves heroes. But the events of last Tuesday allowed all of us to experience what true heroes really are.

 I am thankful for those heroic Americans, who in the air and on the ground, faced with unthinkable odds, gave up their own lives for the lives of others.

 I am thankful for the endless line of volunteers working around the clock, digging through unfathomable destruction, in search of those who have fallen.

 I am thankful for our courageous soldiers, who protect this country and the freedom we cherish.
 I am thankful for a rekindling of spirit, pride, and patriotism of which you never imagined.

 Yes, I am thankful. I thank God that I am an American.

The face of evil was present
on that tragic September day
our people banned together
and as a nation we did pray.

Dear Family and Friends, 
I had a very dear friend question my faith in God right 
after the terrorist attack on America. Her question was 
simply put, "Where is your God today?" She was very 
hurt, as all Americans were, so I tried not to react 
defensively. Since that moment I have prayed and grieved 
over the disastrous events. However, I believe I have 
the answer. I know where my God was the morning of 
September 11, 2001! He was very busy. 
 
First of all, he was trying to discourage anyone from 
taking this flight. Those four flights together held 
over 1000 passengers and there was only 266 aboard. 
 
He was on 4 commercial flights giving terrified 
passengers the ability to stay calm. Not one of the 
family members who was called by a loved one on one of 
the high-jacked planes said that passengers were 
screaming in the background. On one of the flights he 
was giving strength to passengers to try to overtake the 
highjackers. 
 
He was busy trying to create obstacles for employees at 
the World Trade Center. After all only around 20,000 
were at the towers when the first jet hit. Since the 
buildings hold over 50,000 workers, this was a miracle 
in itself. How many of the people who were employed at 
the WTC told the media that they were late for work or 
they had traffic delays. 
 
He was holding up 2-110 story buildings so that 2/3 of 
the workers could get out. I was so amazed that the top 
of the towers didn't topple when the jets impacted. 
 
Although this is without a doubt the worst thing I have 
seen in my life, I can see God's miracles in every bit 
of it. I keep thinking about my friend and praying for 
her every chance I have. I can't imagine going through 
such a difficult time and not believing in God. Life 
would be hopeless.

“Our America”

 It shines below the stars of night
A vast land of hope not blight

 It rises from its grief and sorrow
It gives each child hope for tomorrow

 Its voice is heard the world round
Not defeat, but victory bound

 It focuses on life and love
Old Glory still rises above

 The doom that hit for a moment of hate
Will forever be a marking place

 In our hearts as we look to the sky
We see the people who shouldn’t have died

 Yet as we recall its times like this
That makes Our America the very best

 Lest we forget the price that is paid
For our freedom and liberty…Oh so grave

 It calls for us to come together
To love one another.. it doesn’t matter what color

 For we blend together in strength and might
Under the hand of God Almighty, day and night

 We are the people that God desired
To prove that His love for mankind has never tired

 We stand in the ashes in a sea of death

I would like to submit this for your consideration on the site...it is a message to me from a friend/author/renowned photographer

Although his message is a personal one to me, it might bring encouragement to others:

"God will use all things to His glory...in His timing.  
Draw close to God and allow the Holy Spirit restore you in his peace.

What I am reminded of is an Eagle that has fought hard and is a little
beaten up. It's feathers are a bit damaged and its beak has lost it's
sharpness. The eagle keeps chasing opportunities but it's feather whistle in
flight and give away it's approach. Even when the eagle catches it's prey,
if it's beak is blunt, it will make hard work of what ever opportunities it
gets. Now what does that eagle do? It rises up into higher places that it
may rejuvenate it's feathers with oil (symbolic of the Holy Spirit)...from
it's own mouth plucking out offending feathers that new ones will grow. The
eagle also sharpens it's beak on the rock (symbolic of Jesus) and when
refreshed it returns once more renewed. 'But those who wait on the Lord He
shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they

on the TV and news all day and night...and people here are really grieving
over what has happened in your nation.  There are people all over Australia
praying for America as we feel very attached to your nation."

He cries for the freedom that was lost

was hurting so bad cause I couldnt do anything to help and God lead me the way.  I dont think I really knew how much this would help, but I have gotten so many emails from people that I have helped.  I'm going to put them all in a nice notebook that my wife and I are putting together.  People who give blood know its going to help, people who give money know its going to help.  I really want to know if I'm helping some people cope.  Please let me know, this is what keeps me going in this aftermath.     I'm not what you call a real religious person.  I mean I do believe in God and I pray every once in a while, but I dont go to church every Sunday, actually I havent been since Easter.  (Sorry if this is scramble up, this means a lot to me.)  Well as you all know this
terrible thing that happened has hurt alot of businesses.  Well I sale cars and you can imagine not to many people are buying cars right now, and actually I dont blame them.  What I'm trying to say is I wanted to help so bad but our funds were low and I couldnt help that way.  I also got Hepatitis from a tattoo so I couldnt give blood.  Well God told me to write, and at the time I didnt realize it was God.  So many people responded and it made me
feel.....well I cant tell you how it made me feel....I was driving home tonight from a football game and out of no where I'm talking to myself, or was it me talking to myself?  The words I received is what I am typing on here again.  People there are many ways you can help out and everyone will have there own way. Not all of us can give blood and give money.  Well this is my way of helping all the victims, families, Americans, and now the people that
feel helpless like myself. Well I promise I wont post my story again, but I want to reach all the people that are confused on what to do now or how to feel. Thanks for reading and God bless us all.

  I was involved in the OKC bombing. I left the building 3 minutes before it blew up.  I was so confused and didnt want to be happy. If I saw someone laughing or having fun I took offense to it.  This went on for about 3 weeks.  I kept asking myself when do I get to have fun again, or when do I get to laugh again.  The thought of all those people dieing at my feet and why did I not go with them.  Well, 3 weeks after the bombing with the thought of
why did God not take me, I was driving home from a friends house and a drunk driver hit a man standing behind his car putting gas in it.  I jumped from my truck and ran to the man. He fell in my hands and I saw death in this mans eyes.  His legs were so broken they look like a jigsaw puzzle. I held him and saw blood squirting from his left leg. I took off my shirt and made a turnequet and stopped the bleeding.  After the police and ambulance arrived
and took him away they ask me if I would talk to the fatality police. They said he had no way of making it.  They told me the hospital they were taking him to.  After crying for hours and thinking was else can go wrong in this world something told me to call the hospital.. I called and gave the lady my name, she replied "dont hang up someone wants to talk to you".  I was in shock thinking who wanted to talk to me. A very nice woman got on the phone
and said "How can we ever thank you for what you have done for our family".  I replied "I'm sorry I did every thing I could to help him".  She said please come up here there are a lot of people who want to meet you..  I said of course I'm on my way.  When I entered the emergency waiting room I was overwhelmed, there were at least 50 people coming up to me and hugging me and praising me... I saved a mans life!  Not only did I save his life I saved one of
his legs.  Not a minute went by I looked up and said Lord, now I know why you didnt want me to go yet!  After that day I was the happiest man in the world. It made me realize that things happen for a reason.  Sure it hurts and makes you feel like life cant go on. But I promise God has a plan for everyone!  All of the people are smiling and having a good time right now in heaven.  Thats what we all have to believe and know.  If anyone out there is
wondering why your still here.  Well God has a plan for you too.  Please everyone be positive and think that everyone you see smiling and having fun is finding out why there still here with all of us. Thanks and God Bless all the victims, families, and all of us in America and around the world.

It maybe that most things just happen, but others seem to have a transcript that is already shaped and planned and escapable, perfect as a circle.
 
If some things form a perfect circle others take shape in ways we can not predict or always understand. Loss has been a part of Americas journey, but it has also shown us what is precious, so has the love for which we can only be grateful.
 
Days have past from 911 day and the sorrow is still within us and will be for time to come. Only time will heal the pain that has burned and scared Americas soul, but it will never take away the memory. And the earth will not conceal the blood shed on thee.
 
Our heart has fallen and was shattered into many pieces, those pieces can only be put together by time and the unity of Americans.
 
Today when we look at the red, white and blue we can be proud, we might not see it yet, but America will rise again and rise high.
 
We can only hope and pray that when we look back at this day we will not have any regrets but a feeling of victory and freedom.
 
This will be a day that Americans will never forget, not only because of the pain it represents but because of the pride that was suddenly taken from us, but we will win it back.
 
Our prayers and hopes should go to those that have lost their lives, that are lost or to those who have lost in the attack against America.

I can't imagine these houses bombed or hit by planes that crashed into them. But, you think about the news when they tell about fires that Florida and California houses caught on. And you see all the pictures of Pearl Harbor after it was bombed, and you wonder, "Is this what all the major U.S. sites will look like?"

Last night, I visited a christian chat site. I went to every chat board, prayer board, and creative writing board. At the chatting boards, there were over 30 people talking about what happened. At the prayer board, there were over 15 prayers for injured people and relatives and friends who lost some one. At the creative writing, there were poems and stories about bombing and suicide, and this incident.

At the library, we had said the pledge of aligiance. While we had our hands on our hearts, I could feel my heart beat going bonkers. I stared at the stars and stripes so long, that I was sure my eyes were crossed. I concentrated hard on the words that came out of my mouth. For the first time since I had memorized it, I truly understood the meaning of this lovely pledge.

To think, my children's children will be studying this problem in history.

It was early in the morning
And they came without warning
two planes came from nowhere
twin fires filled the sky

There were angels of all color
some even jumped from fear
while America was watching with
eyes that filled with tears

How many angels earned their wing to fly?
How many angels just learned how to cry?
How many angels are at heavens gate?
They are all God children and there for you they'll wait

There were men on the front-line
who gave there life so free
who went to save our people
just like you and me

There is word now from the Pentagon
a plane has hit there too
Their attacking our very freedom
Attacking our red white and blue

As America joins in prayer
A message came from God

A Day of Tragedy, A Day of Great Hope

Today is one of those days that causes me to wax philosophically.
After the consequences of the September 11th act of hostility against our
great nation and seeing the open acts of bravery and dedications to noble
causes paraded across the media and before my eyes this past week, I can
hardly get through the day without getting a little misty eyed, for it
reminds me how indebted I am to so many brave yet normal people who in the
course of our nations history have given the ultimate sacrifice to preserve
our liberties, and freedoms, which in turn allows us to maintain our current
way of life.

I often wonder if I am deserving of such a great gift. Although I
served our great nation in the Air Force for seven years and in the Guard
for four, I never faced a hostile force in war or conflict.  I was never
faced with the choice, as others were, to give the ultimate price for this
nation. The men and women of America in our pasts gave us this gift, with
their choice, and in so doing, charged us not to waste nor make light of it,
that gift. This is too great a contribution to ever forget.

This is the thought that brings me up short in my thoughts.
Thankfully the words of a great man from our past can give me some guidance
here. Abraham Lincoln on the grounds where a great battle was fought gave a
powerful address to stir up men unto reflection. I think that it could
correctly apply today for the brave men and women who unselfishly ran head
long into danger at the peril of their own lives with the hope of only
saving other lives, knowing or unknowingly, to their own deaths. And for
those that even today persist in the struggle to find life in a hallowed
rubbled mound of former grandeurs.

He councils: We, (the living) "cannot dedicate, we cannot
consecrate, we cannot hallow this ground. The brave men, living and dead who
struggled here have consecrated it far above our poor power to add or
detract." He continues on to give what I have always felt to be profound
council that we, even today, can honor.  "The world will little note nor
long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here.
It is for us the living rather to be dedicated here to the unfinished work,
which they who fought here, have thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather
for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us--that from
these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they
gave the last full measure of devotion--that we here highly resolve that
these dead shall not have died in vain."  He gives a charge on how we can
show our thanks and reverence to them. "That this nation under God shall
have a new birth of freedom, and that government of the people, by the
people, and for the people, shall not perish from the earth".

The freedoms we sometimes take for granted, were never free, but
purchased by these brave souls and need be maintained by us the inheritors
of that charge, to be watchful of any erosion or corruption of those
freedoms. The world at large has benefited by these freedoms and many of
them have as well given their sacrifices to share in these principles.

I hope and pray that each day I may look to see if the life that I
lead would make these souls proud that they gave of themselves, so that I
may have this life.

I thank them for this sacrifice and my hope and prayer is that we as
a people, by and large do not forget nor take light of this great gift.

In closing it is well for us to often review a short paragraph of
note.

"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect
Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the
common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of
Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this
Constitution for the United States of America."

This past week I had the opportunity to travel to NYC with some fellow firefighters and police officers from my area to help cook for the hard working rescue/recovery people there.  To see it on TV is one thing, but to see it in person is completely different.  And the feelings that come of it.  To see those dusty, bruised rescue workers and having them come up and thank you for coming up to cook them some hot food, it makes you feel good that they appreciate it, yet at the same time you can see, and share the pain that shows in their eyes.  But out of this tragedy there have been many blessings, one of which is how the country has united.

Honey,

I just want you to know how much I love you!  There is not a day
in my life that I don't think about you and our wonderful children.
As I write this, I know that I will probably never be able to see
you again until we meet again in Heaven.  The smoke in here has
gotten very heavy.  It is very hard to breathe, but we have no where
to go.  The stairwells below are simply gone.  We all have damp
coffee filters around our faces to help us breathe but it is not
helping much.  Not exactly sure what has happened.  Obviously it is
not good.  It is really bad now and I want to hurry up and send this
praying that you will be able to get it.  I love you babe!  Tell my
two wonderful children that I love them will all my heart!

I will see you in Heaven.  Once again then, we will be together.

 My sister recommended this site to me, and i am so glad i have seen it, I am an 8th grade student at Spinning Hills Middle school. When the horrific event on September 11 occured, by homeroom class was watching the current events on ESPN. Our entire school district was overwhelmed by fear, for I live In the same city as Wright Patterson Airforce Base, the 3rd largest base in the U.S.
Every one became sad for those who lost their lives, and scared for their family that is in the military. I wrote this poem that i would like to share with you. 


No One Knows
Bombs strike,
People die.
No one likes it,
children cry.

No friends,
Nothing but foes.
When's the end,
No one knows.

Families lost,
I'm all alone.
What a cost,
No affection is shown.

Innocent men,
are all taken.
Why them?
The world is shaken.
Whats the point?
No one knows.
It's something stupid,
And it comes and goes.

Conquerors

How do they laugh,
How do they work;
While feelings of fear,
In their hearts always lurk?

The peace and calm,
Of a work-a-day world;
Was turned upside down,
As tall buildings were hurled.

The very last phone call,
To a child and a wife;

May God truly bless you for putting together this web site .  I have
forwarded it to all of my friends and family for them to see.  Hopefully it
will affect them just as much and as powerfully as it did me.
    I work as a "crowd educator" to the many thousands of tourists who visit
the Oldest Post of the Marine Corps, Marine Barracks 8th and I, in Southeast
Washington, DC.  They come to see the Marines all spit and polished, to
understand and to celebrate what it is we do for our country, to watch us
under the spotlights of summer, perform our weekly "Evening Parade." 
I only hope that more will come to visit and now celebrate our country, not
just our Corps, to celebrate what it means to be an American. 
    I want you to know that I am ever so proud to be alive, to be a father,
to be a Marine, and most of all to be an American.  I only hope that I can
convey this feeling to all who come to see us at the Barracks in the future. 
    A great man once said, "The price of freedom, is not free,"  and as in
the past during time of conflict, on that day September 11th, we also paid
that price.
    The difference is it happened to those people who we are here to protect.
 
Now and forever, the American people will understand just how precious life
is because it happened here on our soil.  Now they truly understand that life
lost in the military, selfless loss of life to protect "our" America, is
just as expensive a price as life lost to those who perished in the WTC and
the Pentagon. 
    Thank you to the countless thousands of Emergency personnel who give
their lives on a daily basis to protect all of us, military and civilians
alike.
God Bless the United States of America.  Please know that we are here for you
and that we will come together in whatever capacity our Commander-in-Chief
demands, and we will avenge all of you who have suffered and we will continue
to be the most wonderful and powerful nation on the face of this earth. 

We are here for you.
Thank you again for such a wonderful tribute to those who lost so much.

I didn't mean to be a hero
I was only at my desk
or walking to the cooler
or meeting with the rest

that death would be my plight

Comments: Since September 11th, things in life have changed. I am the daughter of an ex-military couple. When this hit, I was at the office filling in for my Director's Assistant. When the radio emergency message went through... all went quiet in the office. Not a word was spoken and people were grouped together in offices to listen. That's when our DG set up a television in his office for the whole staff on the floor. Believe me when I say it was worse than listening to the radio. People were crying and hearts were broken at that sight. As the seconds went by, everyone looked to one an other and faces fell. How could it be? Why would this happen. But two sayings were running through my mind all that time and still do... "Blessed Be" and "Thou shall rise again". Now that the strike back has been launched, I fear for my family, friends and innocent bystanders. More than I do myself. I have trained for year with the military and now my friends are being dispatched and I can not be sure they will return to Canada and their family and friends. But now I am faced with the knowledge that I might be asked to join them if this becomes a full blown war. And I WILL go. I WILL fight for freedom and peace and I WILL come home to friends and family. As will all military personnel out there. If they do not come home alive... They will rise again to those who love them.

Broken Arrow, Oklahoma School officials remove "God Bless America" signs
from schools in fear that someone might be offended.

Channel 12 News in Long Island, New York, orders flags removed from the
newsroom and red, white, and blue
ribbons removed from the lapels of reporters. Why? Management did not want
to appear biased and felt that our nations flag might give the appearance
that "they lean one way or another".

Berkeley, California bans U.S. Flags from being displayed on city fire
trucks because they didn't want to offend
anyone in the community.

In an "act of tolerance" the head of the public library at Florida Gulf
Coast University ordered all "Proud to be an American" signs removed so as
to not offend international students.

I, for one, am quite disturbed by these actions of so-called American
citizens; and I am tired of this nation worrying
about whether or not we are offending some individual or their culture.
Since the terrorist attacks on September 11,
we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Americans.
However, the dust from the attacks had barely settled in New York and
Washington D.C. when the "politically
correct" crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism
was offending others.

I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is
seeking a better life by coming to America. In fact, our country's
population is almost entirely comprised of descendants of immigrants;
however, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our
country, and apparently some native Americans, need to understand.

First of all, it is not our responsibility to continually try not to offend
you in any way. This idea of America being a multi-cultural community has
served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As
Americans, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language,
and our own lifestyle. This culture, called the "American Way" has been
developed over centuries of struggles, trials, and victories by millions of
men and women who have sought freedom.  Our forefathers fought, bled, and
died at places such as Bunker Hill, Antietam, San Juan, Iwo Jima, Normandy,
Korea,
Vietnam.

We speak English, not Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any
other language. Therefore, if you wish to
become part of our society - learn our language!

"In God We Trust" is our national motto. This is not some off-the-wall,
Christian, Right Wing, political slogan - it is our national motto. It is
engraved in stone in the House of Representatives in our Capitol and it is
printed on our currency. We adopted this motto because Christian men and
women, on Christian principles, founded this nation; and this is clearly
documented throughout our history.  If it is appropriate for our motto to be
inscribed in the halls of our highest level of Government, then it is
certainly appropriate  to display it on the walls of our schools.

God is in our pledge, our National Anthem, nearly every patriotic song, and
in our founding documents. We honor His
birth, death, and resurrection as holidays, and we turn to Him in prayer in
times of crisis. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another
part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture and
we are proud to have Him.

We are proud of our heritage and those who have so honorably defended our
freedoms. We celebrate Independence Day,
Memorial Day, Veterans Day, and Flag Day. We have parades, picnics, and
barbecues where we proudly wave our flag. As an American, I have the right
to wave my flag, sing my national
anthem, quote my national motto, and cite my pledge whenever and wherever I
choose. If the Stars and Stripes offend you, or you don't like Uncle Sam,
then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet.

The American culture is our way of life, our heritage, and we are proud of
it. We are happy with our culture and have no
desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came
from. We are Americans, like it or not, this is our country, our land, and
our lifestyle.

Our First Amendment gives every citizen the right to express his opinion
about our government, culture, or society, and we will allow you every
opportunity to do so. But once you are done complaining, whining, and
griping about our flag, our pledge, our national motto, or our way of life,
I highly
encourage you take advantage of one other great American freedom, the right
to leave.

First i would like to thank-you the Lord above for giving us this blessing, the earth is what i mean. Second I would thank-you for the people that we love and all the grace you have shed through good and bad. Now I would would like to ask you to do something  for us that seems hopeless but for you is possible, put love in the hearts of the loveless hope in the hearts of the hopeless kindness and joy in those which have none. Make the devil flee from what you have created, make the word hate never to be spoken for this is what is turning this pleasant  world up side down.  For in the U.S.A.  you have held the hands of many to help turn your land into what it is today and now I hope you will  help us make it true that together we will stand all united as one with YOU  holding our hand.

She Still Stands

From her island sanctuary
She stood glorious in the sun,
As clouds billowed softly by,
I saw Liberty; her torch raised to the sky

From the sky flew the demons from the east,
By blade, capturing the wings of the eagles flight,
Four riders stormed down delivering death,
Laying siege on her fortress of democracy

The towers destroyed and the keep damaged,
Countless souls delivered into God's hand,
The devil's seed had been sowed
An unholy bounty reaped

Fire, soot, and ash rained down to the street below,
Onto The Knights of Saint Michael and Saint Florian,
Burying those who try to save
Life pushed to the limit never thought to be undone

From her island sanctuary she stood immobile,
As clouds of smoke, ash, and soot billowed
Devastation recognized and dealt
I saw that Liberty still stood

Her sons shall raise their swords
To vanquish the evil back into the night
Her torch shall never grow dim

Comments: I thought this was a very nice page. My master was reading it and I overheard some. From what I heard I liked. I especially liked the doggie stories. They hit home for me. It is nice to hear my fellow doggie friends are taking part and doing what they can for the country they live in with their masters. I do remember laying on the rug in my living room and my master had the news on. From what I heard I knew things were going to change. My masters were very upset and I took my part and did what I could to comfort them, and then when they had I ran in my corner and rested myself. Things were so hectic. It was easy to see how a dog in my position can get a little moody. I have taken my part and my fellow K-9's are doing so as well, and I have to say I am proud to be an all AMERICAN doggie. God bless everyone. Ruff Ruff. Peace to my home dogs. Live forever my homies. Love ya'll.

WELCOME AT RAINBOW BRIDGE

On the morning of September 11, 2001, there was an unprecedented amount
of activity at the Rainbow Bridge. Decisions had to be made. They had to be
made quickly. And, they were.

An issue, not often addressed here, is the fact that many residents really
have no loved one for whom to wait. Think of the pups who lived and died in
hideous puppy mills. No one on earth loved or protected them.
What about the many who spent unhappy lives tied in backyards? And, the ones
who were abused. Who are they to wait for?

We don't talk about that much up here. We share our loved ones as they
arrive, happy to do so. But we all know there is nothing like having your
very own person who thinks you are the most special pup in the Heavens.

Last Tuesday morning a request rang out for pups not waiting for specific
persons to volunteer for special assignment.. An eager, curious crowd
surged excitedly forward, each pup wondering what the assignment would
be.  They were told by a solemn voice that unexpectedly, all at once, over
4,000 loving people had left Earth long before they were ready. All the
pups, as all pups do, felt the humans' pain deep in their own hearts. 
Without
hearing more, there was a clamoring among them - "May I have one to
comfort?"
"I'll take two, I have a big heart." "I have been saving kisses forever."

One after another they came forward begging for assignment. One cozy-looking
fluffy pup hesitantly asked, "Are there any children coming? I would be very
comforting for a child 'cause I'm soft and squishy and I always wanted to be
hugged."

A group of Dalmatians came forward asking to meet the Firemen and be their
friends. The larger working breeds offered to greet the Police Officers and
make them feel at home. Little dogs volunteered to do what they do best,
cuddle and kiss.

Dogs who on Earth had never had a kind word or a pat on the head, stepped
forward and said, "I will love any human who needs love."
Then all the dogs, wherever on Earth they originally came from, rushed to
the Rainbow Bridge and stood waiting, overflowing with love to share each
tail wagging an American Flag.

I did some rescue work for souls at
NYC which I still find hard to speak
of, as it was one of the most profoundly
moving experiences I have ever encountered,
but I loved your beautiful posting, so I
thought I would share this moment and this
brief but beautiful encounter I had there
with you and our friends. I was coping
fairly well under the circumstances until
I saw the Souls of a man and his dog standing
side-by-side, they had been left; last to leave,
for me to see as a special comforting
gift perhaps, only for a brief few moments. My eyes
were drawn to the dog who gave me the most happy
doggie grin and wagged its tail joyfully, then
they disappeared, but of course I knew where they
had gone to.  I had managed well until then,
doing what I had been chosen to do,
but at the sight of them and in particular, that
wonderful dog's joyfulness, I just went to pieces.
You know how sometimes you "cry for happy"...well
this was a mixture of that and also shock at the
suddeness of what I had seen there and mingled
gratitude as well that I had been where I could be
of some help to those marvellous Souls. There was
also the sadness too, I found it hard to cope
with the passing of so many people involved in that
sudden tragedy, although the joyous grin on that
dear sweet dog's face said to me once more,
earth life can do what it likes to all of us and our
dear animal friends, but that death is not the end.

While the chance of finding any survivors in the World Trade Center rubble
vanished long ago, there is a survivor story.

A cat apparently trapped under the debris has been found alive, with a new
litter of three kittens.

Rescuers found the cats curled up in a carton of napkins. They were in the
basement of what used to be a restaurant at the World Trade Center.

Rescue workers rushed mom and the kittens to a vet.

Mom was thin and dehydrated, however, vets say all of the cats will be just
fine.

'TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS,
    HE LIVED ALL ALONE,
    IN A ONE BEDROOM HOUSE MADE OF
    PLASTER AND STONE.

    I HAD COME DOWN THE CHIMNEY
    WITH PRESENTS TO GIVE,
    AND TO SEE JUST WHO
    IN THIS HOME DID LIVE.

    I LOOKED ALL ABOUT,
    A STRANGE SIGHT I DID SEE,
    NO TINSEL, NO PRESENTS,
    NOT EVEN A TREE.

    NO STOCKING BY MANTLE,
    JUST BOOTS FILLED WITH SAND,
    AND ON THE WALL PICTURES
    OF FAR DISTANT LANDS.

    WITH MEDALS AND BADGES,
    AWARDS OF ALL KINDS,
    A SOBERING THOUGHT
    CAME TO MY MIND.

    FOR THIS HOUSE WAS DIFFERENT,
    SO DARK AND SO DREARY,
    THE HOME OF A SOLDIER,
    NOW I COULD SEE CLEARLY.

    THE SOLDIER LAY SLEEPING,
    SILENT, ALONE,
    CURLED UP ON THE FLOOR
    IN THIS ONE BEDROOM HOME.

    THE FACE WAS SO GENTLE,
    THE ROOM IN SUCH DISORDER,
    NOT HOW I PICTURED
    A UNITED STATES SOLDIER.

    WAS THIS THE HERO
    OF WHOM I'D JUST READ?
    CURLED UP ON A PONCHO,
   THE FLOOR FOR A BED?

    I REALIZED THE FAMILIES
    THAT I SAW THIS NIGHT,
    OWED THEIR LIVES TO THESE SOLDIERS
    WHO WERE WILLING TO FIGHT.

    SOON ROUND THE WORLD,
    THE CHILDREN WOULD PLAY,
    AND GROWNUPS WOULD CELEBRATE
    A BRIGHT CHRISTMAS DAY.

    THEY ALL ENJOYED FREEDOM
    EACH MONTH OF THE YEAR,
    BECAUSE OF THE SOLDIERS,
    LIKE THE ONE LYING HERE.

   I COULDN'T HELP WONDER
    HOW MANY LAY ALONE,
    ON A COLD CHRISTMAS EVE
    IN A LAND FAR FROM HOME.

    THE VERY THOUGHT
    BROUGHT A TEAR TO MY EYE,
    I DROPPED TO MY KNEES
    AND STARTED TO CRY.

    THE SOLDIER AWAKENED
    AND I HEARD A ROUGH VOICE,
    "SANTA DON'T CRY,
    THIS LIFE IS MY CHOICE;

    I FIGHT FOR FREEDOM,
    I DON'T ASK FOR MORE,
    MY LIFE IS MY GOD,
    MY COUNTRY, MY CORPS."

    THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER
    AND SOON DRIFTED TO SLEEP,
    I COULDN'T CONTROL IT,
    I CONTINUED TO WEEP.

    I KEPT WATCH FOR HOURS,
    SO SILENT AND STILL,
    AND WE BOTH SHIVERED
    FROM THE COLD EVENING'S CHILL.

    I DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE
    ON THAT COLD, DARK, NIGHT,
    THIS GUARDIAN OF HONOR
    SO WILLING TO FIGHT.

    THEN THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER,
    WITH A VOICE SOFT AND PURE,
    WHISPERED, "CARRY ON SANTA,
    IT'S CHRISTMAS DAY, ALL IS SECURE."

    ONE LOOK AT MY WATCH,
    AND I KNEW HE WAS RIGHT.
    "MERRY CHRISTMAS MY FRIEND,
    AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT."
